Static leashes are very dangerous with kiteboards, causing the board to snap back hard into your body. Reel leashes keep you connected to your board with infinitely safer tension-loaded reel outs, and slow reeling back in. This way there's no hard pop, no unexpected boards hitting you.
The advantage of this board-retrieval device is no hard snap-back, but it also guarantees you're getting back to your board quickly and easily regardless of currents, waves, long kite-relaunch times, and other unknown factors.
The Reel Leash has a lightweight plastic housing which contains a stainless steel spring and spool of webbing with a brass snap hook. Safer than traditional tubular leashes, because when separated from the board, the board will safely fall away from the kiter. This releases the webbing out 10', with enough torque from the spring system to control/eliminate slack - and the board sling shooting back toward the kiter. Leash Length: 10ft.
Leash webbing stays coiled away in the housing and out of the way. Reel Leash won't drag in the water, wrap around the kiter or board, or get caught between toes or under the feet while moving around on the board.
Upgradable to: The retractable EEL Quick-Release Leash is the latest and most versatile model. This Quick Release version of the standard EEL leash allows you to take it off your harness easily to leave it connected to your board.
